Even the healthiest of lawns can suffer from pests.

The most critical part of eradication is an early diagnosis. It’s crucial that we are informed as soon as any telltale signs appear. Once identified, we can take appropriate steps to eradicate the culprit.

The most common pests in lawns are Leather Jackets (the larvae of the Crane Fly - Daddy Longlegs) and Chafer Grubs (the larvae of the Chafer Beetle). In our attempt to be as eco-friendly as possible we apply Nematodes, a biological control, at the optimal time.

Crane Flies appear around August-September so just before and during this time its best to keep an eye out for Leather Jackets. The more you see on the lawn surface, the more massive the infestation will be.

Chafer Grubs are around for a little longer. Be on the lookout between July-October. The easiest way of identifying Chafer Grubs is how the lawn looks. Look out for areas that appear to be lacking in colour or looking stressed.

Grub activity isn’t always the cause so tug at the grass in the area that appears affected. If Chafer Grubs are the cause, the grass will pull away from the soil. The is because they eat the grassroots and thus detach the turf from the soil.
